How we help.
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons.
Some know exactly what's been bothering them. Others just know that something isn't working as well as it used to.
Here are some of the things people commonly bring to therapy.
People often come to us because...
“I keep avoiding things.”
“Everything feels harder than it used to.”
“I just want to check and see if I am doing ok.”
“My relationship is changing.”
“I can't stop worrying.”
“I'm exhausted all the time.”
“I’m finding it hard to say no.”
“I don't know who I am anymore.”
These aren't the only reasons people come to therapy.
If you don't see yourself here, we'd still be happy to hear from you.

A psychologist is for anyone who feels like they are stuck or struggling. We know that seeing a psychologist can sometimes seem scary or intimidating, or like a last resort. We like to think of it more like seeing your GP-they are there for you when you aren’t feeling well, but sometimes it’s also good to get a check-up and maintain your well-being.
-
The word ‘clinical’ can sound serious, however all it means is that the psychologist has gone through a two years masters training program and are trained to work with a broad range of mental health difficulties. Because of this a clinical psychologist has the highest Medicare rebate for therapy sessions. That’s it really.
-
Your first appointment is an opportunity to talk about what's been happening, what has led you to seek therapy, and what you're hoping to get out of it. Together, you'll decide whether therapy feels like the right fit and discuss what the next steps might look like.
-
No. You can book an appointment without a referral. If you'd like to claim Medicare rebates, you'll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP before your first appointment.
-
Every psychologist works a little differently. You can read about each psychologist on our About page, or get in touch if you're unsure—we're happy to help you find someone who feels like the right fit.
-
That's completely okay. Many of our clients haven't. There's no expectation that you'll know what to say or where to begin. Your psychologist will help guide the conversation.
-
It depends on your goals and what's bringing you to therapy. Some people come for a handful of sessions around a specific issue, while others choose to work together over a longer period. You'll review this together as therapy progresses.
